Emergency need for a Full Time Anesthesiologist at St. Barnabus Hospital in the Bronx.
Somnia, a national anesthesia practice management company, is seeking an anesthesiologist to join its team at St. Barnabas Hospital, a fast-paced 461-bed acute care community hospital and Level I Trauma Center located in the Bronx, NY. Established in 1866, St. Barnabas has a rich history of serving a diverse patient population. The hospital is part of the St. Barnabas Health Care Network, a community-based health care system serving individuals and families in the Bronx and surrounding neighborhoods. The hospital has state-designated centers for stroke and AIDS care. Our anesthesia care team model consists of anesthesiologists and CRNAs working together in a highly collaborative environment. The hospital’s eight state-of-the-art operating suites provide care for more than 8,000 general, urological, gynecological, vascular, pediatric and neurosurgical patients. St. Barnabas also has two endoscopy rooms with case volume of 2,500 procedures a year. Pediatric cases range from complex traumas to routine cases such as tubes and tonsils (ENT). Cardiac surgery is not offered at the hospital. A high-risk obstetrical service is responsible for more than 1,150 live births each year, 60% of them involving epidurals. St. Barnabas Hospital recently completed major renovation and construction projects, adding a spacious hospital lobby, full-service ambulatory surgery center, state-of-the-art operating suite, inpatient short-term hospice unit and attractive gateways to the garden-like campus.

• Board-certified or board-eligible
• Active New York State license
• Strong regional skills are preferred
• Experience with pediatric and adult trauma, including resuscitative medicine on blunt and penetrating trauma, is a plus.
• Candidates must be comfortable with both adult and pediatric cases.
Ideal candidates will have the utmost confidence in their skills and be able to practice independently in a very busy operating room that caters to the critically injured and those with serious coexisting diseases and undergoing routine or complex surgeries.
