Overview

The Front-End Billing Specialist will focus on the accurate entry and maintenance of demographic and insurance information. The Front-End Billing Specialist will be responsible for inputting and verifying sensitive information, including patient demographics, insurance details, and other related data. This role requires high attention to detail, speed, and accuracy to ensure data integrity in company systems and compliance with regulations. This position will involve working with entities in the state of California and requires that candidates both live in and have experience working with entities in the state of California.  

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter demographic and insurance information into the company’s billing platform.
  • Review and verify data for completeness and accuracy, correcting errors as necessary.
  • Assist in verifying insurance coverage by contacting insurance companies or utilizing online verification tools.
  • Update and maintain data records regularly, ensuring timely and accurate entry of new information.
  • Identify and escalate any data issues or inconsistencies that may affect operations or billing processes.
  • Efficiently and accurately create batches in the billing platform for the coding team.
  • Stay updated with changes in medical billing regulations and insurance requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional training or certification in medical billing, insurance, or data entry is a plus.
  • Must be located in the state of California and have experience providing medical billing support in California.
  • Experience with billing in healthcare settings and/or with medical insurance data preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple IPAs preferred.
  • Familiarity with demographic and insurance information, especially in healthcare or insurance-related environments.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge:

  • Attention to detail, with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of insurance plans, terminology, and verification processes.
  • Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance guidelines.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification tools or platforms.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
