The Chief CRNA serves as the primary resource, point person and advocates for Departmental CRNAs. Position Summary
The Clinical Operations Diplomat, CRNA will work in conjunction with the following team members: Chief Operations Officer, Chief Medical Officer, VP Clinical Operations, Regional Medical Directors, Regional Practice Administrator, Director of Quality, and local leadership (Facility Medical Director and/or Chief CRNA, On-site Administrator) to provide facility management and clinical services for Somnia, Inc. and affiliates anesthesia facility contracts.

Responsible for the delivery of clinical services to assigned contracts as well as leadership and technical clinical training services.
Position Description
Under direction of the COO, the Clinical Operations Diplomat assumes leadership and clinical responsibility for the CRNA care team operations at accounts throughout our national client base. Serves as onsite clinical member participating in call, enhanced clinical training and daily clinical operations.
The Clinical Operations Diplomat’s will be involved in scheduling, daily staffing, and flexing staffing to match OR volume. Assisting with care team development, recruitment and supporting the Clinical Operations team goals and objectives. This position collaborates with, and evaluates all assigned shift Associates according to hospital, anesthesia and unit philosophy and objectives. Utilizes and acquires knowledge of current and best practices in the specified clinical and management areas of anesthesia practice. This position is essential as it also provides ongoing clinical support to facilities that are starting up or in need of clinical staff or leadership.
Responsibilities/Tasks
- Provide clinical anesthesia in facilities requiring additional staff to meet contracted points-of-service. It is expected this position will provide clinical services on average of five (5) days per week. Scheduling will be based on the needs of the facilities.
- Cross-credential at facilities across regions, where deemed necessary by senior clinical leadership, to provide clinical anesthesia coverage as part of Somnia’ s growth strategy and contract maintenance process.
- Ensure a “systems” approach for the clinical care environment
- Pre-op anesthesia patient information, acquisition, and evaluation
- Postoperative care
- Anesthesia discharge standards and instructions
- Manage incidents or complications
- Communicate with on-call Anesthesia clinicians
- Support local and national leadership with managing internal CRNA-related issues
- Provide direct anesthesia services to Center patients as assigned throughout national client base
- Travel to sites in need of critical staffing
- Willing and able to holds multiple state licenses and credential at facilities as needed
- Works with sites to develop an equitable anesthesia coverage/late call schedule
- Serve as a mentor to all staff for clinical technical training, as needed.
- Provides action plans for underperforming sites.

Qualifications/Education Requirements

Position Summary
The Vice President of Clinical Operations will work in conjunction with the following team members: Chief Operations Officer, Chief Medical Officer, VP of Clinical Operations, Regional Medical Directors, Regional Practice Administrator, Director of Quality, and local leadership (Facility Medical Director and/or Chief CRNA, on-site Administrator) to provide facility management and clinical services for Somnia Inc. and affiliates anesthesia facility contracts.
Purpose:
Responsible for the delivery of overall management of profit and loss to assigned contracts as well as clinical services.
Scope:
Serves as Vice President of Clinical Operations reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide clinical anesthesia in facilities requiring additional staff to meet contracted points-of-service. It is expected this position will provide clinical services on average of three (3) days per week.
- Cross-credential at facilities across regions, where deemed necessary by senior clinical leadership, to provide clinical anesthesia coverage as part of Somnia’s growth strategy and contract maintenance process.
- Leadership Responsibilities
- Clinical operations leadership
- Accountable for clinical operational leadership in new facilities in conjunction with Somnia’s growth strategy, including development of an anesthesia improvement plan (AIP) and collaboration with senior clinical leadership on AIP implementation.
- Work with corporate management team, hospital administration, Medical, and CRNA directors to build comprehensive site management structures.
- When requested, perform clinical evaluation of new hire candidates within 48 hours of request with completed write-up of the evaluation to the respective recruiter.
- Meet with facility C-suite at least on a quarterly basis and presents quarterly site visit report (site visit report template attached – Exhibit I).
- Ensure ongoing training of facility-level leaders: workday, compliance training, payroll process, scheduling, and additional leadership training as deemed necessary.
- Work in conjunction with the Chief Clinical Officers (CCO) to identify additional leadership training needs for existing and incoming clinical leaders. CCO includes, but is not limited to, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Regional Medical Directors (RMD), VP of Clinical Operations, Medical Directors, and Chief CRNAs.
- Work with COO to develop standardized programs related to facility-specific clinical informatics, centralized databases, electronic scheduling, etc.
- Support evidence-based leadership concepts through leader rounding and feedback.
- Work with Compliance Department to ensure providers are educated on regulatory and documentation requirements.
- Work with Site Medical Directors, Regional Medical Directors, Chief CRNAs, or on-site Administrators to ensure facility Departmental Policy & Procedure manuals are up to date and staff are inserviced annually.
- In collaboration with the Director of Quality:
- Ensure clinical quality program compliance and clinicians are successful with P4P key metrics.
- Ensure facility P4P key metrics are audited and submitted in a timely manner to facility for payment according to facility contract.
- In collaboration with the Joint Commission corporate representative, ensure the development of Joint Commission updates, facility assessments, and educational inservices.
- Review operational analytic reports, evaluate coverage models, and ensure site is meeting expectations. Proactively review processes for value-add services, more efficiencies, and improved overall performance of sites.
- Report comprehensive reviews on facility reviews for accountable facilities outlining coverage models, utilization efficiencies, compensation models, financial performance to pro forma, billing performance, areas of concern, facility project reporting, etc.
- Work closely with VP of Revenue Cycle Management on billing performance reporting and development of action plans for improvement, when applicable.
- Work with Service Line Directors to enhance service offerings.
- Ensure that policy and procedures, forms, and processes are compliant, reviewed at least every two years, and staff understand expectations.
- Attend regional/corporate meetings/conference calls as deemed necessary by senior executive leadership.
- Work with the CCO team to identify and develop action plans for annual goals/objectives for Somnia Clinical Services.
- New contract/facility leadership
- Collaborate with Business Development Team with new facility contracts, utilizing any/all processes required for new facility start-up.
- Participate in weekly calls/meetings with Clinical and Business Operations, as indicated.
- Work alongside CCO/regional-level clinical leadership in new contract implementations to assist with clinical needs, culture training, and chief/team development.
- Existing facility management
- In accordance with COO direction, assume clinical leadership role in unstable contracts with the goals of stabilization of contract and anesthesia team improvement.
- Review quality outcome data monthly and collaborates with site leadership and Director of Quality for performance improvement project implementation.
- Develop and implement the anesthesia improvement plan (AIP), coordinating with C-suite hospital leadership, director-level hospital leadership, and Somnia leadership.
- Provide clinical and leadership management throughout the duration of the AIP, with frequent, cadenced communication with key stakeholders responsible for overall contact performance.
- Facilitate completion of Phase I and Phase II of AIP with full transition back to CCO-level leadership.
- Conduct on-site visits at least on a quarterly basis.
- Complete quarterly site visit reports and submit them to the COO by the 15thday of the following month when quarter ends (submission due dates: April 15, July 15, Oct. 15, Jan. 15).
- Budgetary Responsibilities
- Possess knowledge of facility budgets and contracted POS for new facilities, unstable facilities requiring intervention, and assigned accounts.
- Collaborate with Somnia operational and clinical leadership in budgetary management:
- Ensure Regional, Chief CRNA, and on-site Administrators are equipped/trained in schedule development to cover contracted points-of-service within budget parameters.
- Partner with on-site Administrator, Medical Director, and Chief CRNA in reviewing MD/CRNA overtime/additional compensation against points-of-service and variance requests.
- Collaborate with credentialing and revenue department to ensure compliance with provider enrollment requirements, billing compliance, and information request management.
Bonus Compensation
The Somnia C-suite reviews the potential availability of leadership bonuses during the annual budgetary review process based on past performance and future projections. Based upon this information and the C-suite identified annual goals, the bonus structure goals/allocations are established. Typically, the bonus structure allocation sets benchmarks for overall corporate financial performance in conjunction with clinical operations and job performance benchmarks. Bonus compensation is paid out annually (pending financial approval by the C-suite) upon completion of a performance review by the COO. Input from the CEO, CMO, and Operations team will be elicited as deemed necessary by the COO.

The appraisal system will be used to reward the Vice President of Clinical Operations who excels in the practice and administrative setting and to offer comments to help improve deficient areas of practice or capabilities of the individual. Vice Presidents of Clinical Operations who consistently fail to improve in deficient areas after a given period will be counseled, possibly suspended, or even terminated if unable to perform the duties of the job description.
